Less than 16 km away from the Scandinavia Resort (about 20 minutes by car) in Wadowice there is the Family home of John Paul II. Follow the traces of life of the Holy Father who was born as Karol Wojtyła in 1920. The future pope lived in his apartment for 18 years. Later the place has been converted into a museum you can explore now with about 1,200 square meters of exhibition space. This site offers numerous workshops such as "Around the world in 80 minutes". It is a great activity for whole families that is both educational and fun. The pilgrimages of John Paul II around the world are the main theme here. The Museum is also an interesting attraction for children. For example, the "Games and plays with Lolek" workshops are for the youngest visitors. This is a great opportunity to learn old games and pastimes of the interwar period (Karol Wojtyła’s childhood). You will also find a store with books and memoirs from this unique place.
As for Museum tickets, you can buy them online on the website. Due to the limited pool of tickets, we recommend purchasing online in advance. You can also make a reservation by phone. The Family home of John Paul II is open daily from 10 am to 6 pm. It's worth knowing that admission is free on Tuesdays, so you don't have to buy a ticket. Right next to the Museum is the Minor Basilica of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This church was built at the end of the 18th century in the late baroque style. Because of the architecture it is really worth visiting. While in Wadowice, do not forget to taste the delicious cream cakes, the Pope's favorite sweet delicacy.
